ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A local man who calls himself a self-taught cook is now shining bright on a nationally televised cooking show.

“You just know you’re against the best, and that makes you feel the best,” Jermaine Wright said. “When you go against good competition, you’re like, ‘Alright cool. We know why we’re here.’”

Wright is a contestant on the second season of All-Star Academy on the Food Network. On Friday, he whipped up a batch of his signature dish – Five Cheese Mac ‘n Please with bacon – at NEWS10.

Jermaine Wright, a 25-year-old Albany resident who teaches hip-hop dance and works in communications for a nonprofit for at-risk youth, is among the eight competitors on "All-Star Academy," a Food Network series that began Sunday night and says it features "the best home cooks in America." The first episode may be viewed at www.foodnetwork.com/shows/all-star-academy.html New episodes of the second season air at 9 p.m. Sundays.

Last Wednesday, we got the chance to celebrate National Cognac Day a little early with Rémy Martin, and their Brand Ambassador Marc Forgione at his namesake restaurant in Tribeca. National Cognac Day falls on the June 4th, but it’s never too early to celebrate a great cocktail! It was more than a celebration of this prized liquor, but also a celebration for the Rémy Martin Circle Of Centaurs Winner Jermaine Wright.

Things were hot in New York as the iconic brand Remy Martin celebrated National Cognac Day. The event was hosted by chef and brand ambassador Marc Forgione. The event was held at Chef Forgione’s restaurant on Reade Street. Although the celebration was in honor of National Cognac day, it was also a celebration of Remy Martin’s Circle of Centaurs winner Jermaine Wright.
